The Golf Club d’Aro, located between Playa de Aro and Santa Cristina in Girona, was designed by Ramón Espinosa in the late 1980s. An 18-hole par 72 course and over 6,200 meters, construction began in 1988 and it was a great challenge for engineering. The hardness of the land forced dynamite to be able to model the streets, which added a lot of work to the ambitious project that was intended to be carried out. After such work, and to integrate the field into the natural environment, all kinds of trees were planted (cork oaks, pines, willows, cypresses …) and two artificial lakes were built for the non-relocation of native fauna.
On April 23, 1990, the Golf d’Aro Club was inaugurated with the celebration of the PGA Open Martini and only two years later he received the award for the “Best European Golf Course”. Since then, it is considered one of the best fields in Spain thanks to the attention paid to maintenance and the service provided to the customer.
